19th Century Brass Bound Rosewood Box
Here is a wonderful 19th century brass bound rosewood box. The box is in absolutely lovely condition – it is somewhat elegant yet somewhat primitive. It has an inlay of lighter wood – which I assume is birch – along with the same type of inlay around the keyhole escutcheon. The box has a fitted interior and I believe at one point it was most likely a men’s toiletry box. There was also a leather type of flap on the inside of the lid that is missing now - this generally would have been a space for ...

Rare English 19th Century Lap Travel Desk
Lap desk w paper label. Here is a super super nice lap/travel desk. With one of the most complicated interiors I have ever encountered. In the interior of the box there are two or three different shades of mahogany all complimenting each other with really nice grain. It is slightly primitive and it dates from the early 19th century. It has a whale bone key escutcheon. It has simple line inlay on all edges. When you open the box it has a drop down lid compartment as well as a lift up lid ...

Antique Birds Eye Maple Wood Tea Caddy Box
Spectacular early 19th century dome top tea caddy. It is in a small diminutive size complete with two interior lidded compartments and a little tiny key – which as you may know is very rare to still have! The box is made of a spectacular bird’s eye maple. The surface patina is rich and mellow and it appears to be untouched and original. The hinges are in fine working condition and the lids inside have an ebony knob on the mahogany lid. It measures 5 1/8 inches at highest x 7 inches wide x 4 3/8 ...

Painted Porcelain Box Portrait Top Gilt Brass
Super nice 19th Century Trinket Box. I recently had the good fortune to acquire a very large collection of these miniature boxes, each one totally great! This one has a hand painted porcelain top & the base is gilt brass in a basket weave design. Inside of the box is lined with original hand woven printed cotton fabric. The painting is really well defined & the colors are true & elaborate, the condition is very good as well, the spotting that you see is a bit of actual grime & the camera did a ...

Bronze Jewelry Box Ivory Paintings
This is one of the most incredible - to die for - jewelry caskets I have ever seen. The entire box is gilt bronze; the overall theme is in a basket weave and somewhat high relief. On all the edges all around the box it is accented with a very intricate applied grape vine with grape clusters. The detail is spectacular and the surface patina of the box is just the way it should be for this time period. The box is inset with hand painted ivory plaques and as I hope you can see has work that is ...

Primitive Box Mahogany and Birdseye Maple
Here is a very exciting almost primitive style American document box. The top is mahogany with inlaid initials of MMC. All around the box as you can see are framed panels of the boldest Birdseye maple I have ever seen. The molding around the panels is carved and applied. This box is in spectacular condition with a nice rich French polish. It measures 14 5/8”w x 7 1/8”h x 9” deep. Striving For Excellence It isn’t brilliance or just getting the breaks, It is consistent attention to & honest ...

Chinese Cinnabar Box Carved
Here is a very unique and hard to find item these days – it is a carved cinnabar lacquered box. The carving is deep and crisp – you can basically see all the facial features on the people, leaves on the tress – it is very dimensional. It has a very interesting diamond shape design all the way around on the outside of the box. The inside is still in the black lacquer color and underneath in hand script with red paint it is marked China. This box dates from approximately the 1880’s into the very ...
